Wow, early 06, none of this was imaginable!
It was early 2006, and the US’ AACS was looking every inch surrounded by a force field.
Come 2008, AACS has yet to announce a final standard, what with consumers waiting for the Blu ray and HDDVD dust o clear up, the elusive “DVD Jon,” and the mysterious “Muslix64″ ’s famous Digg crack DVD code hogging publicity (but not in Dec; wearing a new Digg crack code shirt might result to the plaintive “but that’s so last year!”).
Anyway, heres my toast to 07’s trailblazers, among them Oppo’s DVDs, for the region-free DV-970HD hovering near $150. But it was the Oppo DV-981HD that took
CNet.com and ConsumerSearch.com by storm.
