Gmail going huge: Users report 9GB storage

I got a call from a friend in the morning from US who says his gmail user account has been exceeded to 9GB. Although, this doesnt seem to be happening for all :(

This definitely seems to be a catch up act by Google in order to play with Yahoo which offers unlimited storage.

With no other official info available, we can only assume that the user’s are getting picked up randomly.As someone who was about to finish off with his/her free storage. I am just trying to be positive :)
