Are you a Musician looking for Audience? Turn to Muziboo.com

During my good old school and college days i did have many friends who played some or the other instrument ( infact i too used to play a few instruments) or were crazy about vocal music but somehow couldn’t take it further. So who was the culprit? Why do such talented people end up with nothing? Though, this story is common with every school/college or university, its often the absence of audience that usually makes such talented creatures shift tracks. For all those who find themselves falling into this category and also to all those who wish to spread their music and go places, Muziboo.com is the way to go.

Muziboo.com which happens to be scripted in Ruby on Rails is one of the classic websites with a unique theme of connecting musicians and music lovers.

In this post, i am trying to bring out the various facts and figures about Muziboo.

Muziboo which enjoys a user base of more than 500 users has more than 30 bands. Overall, Muziboo enjoys a collection of 350+ songs. These figures are decent enough for a theme as unique as Connecting Musicians and getting an audience for your music and for a young entrant which is just 3 months old.

Muziboo

The key facts about Muziboo are

  • Total Uploaded Songs: 350+
  • 30+ Groups with an active group called Original Compositions which features only original music compositions.
  • 30+ Bands registered with the website.
  • Geographically majority members come from India and Pakistan. Although it does have members from Brazil, US and Middle East as well.

Audience

Muziboo has definitely impressed me with its content. The website has more than 350 songs but the amazing fact about this service is that no song is a pirated compositions, either its a karaoke version of the original song sung by a member or an instrumental version of it.

In short,Muziboo is to Music what Youtube is to videos and Flickr is to Photos.

Another interesting feature is Music Recommendation which is certainly a differentiator as compared to other music websites.

Coming back to the Original Compositions group featured on Muziboo; This group is a collection of original renderings by the members. As i write this post, It has around 62 songs which is close to 15% of total songs available on Muziboo.

The website also has pretty much Ajax stuff which allows listeners to listen to songs and comment simultaneously.

Like Youtube, you can find music embedding code as well for your website/blog which allows you to embed music from Muziboo to your blog.

How to make Muziboo work for you?

1.) Post lyrics (in case of originals) and/or information on recording setup or other interesting information related to your music.

2.) Tag your music with relevant keywords such as raaga, genre, instruments used etc (Not your name or title of the song).

3.) Add your music to relevant groups (Join more groups and start new ones if you cannot find something for the kind of music you play)

4.) Comment on other’s work so that they notice your song and comment back. We are all here to help each other learn and improve.

Although, the website is pretty neat with regards to its theme, here are my list of wannabies from Muziboo

  • A Better looking UI.
  • Easier Integration of music with Wordpress.com blogs.
  • Virtual Contests for Musicians.
  • Integration with social mashups.
  • A Global exposure.

Also, before i sign off this post, thought of sharing with you all that Muziboo is working on a better Dashboard and some cool new features. Stay tuned and get a hang of Muziboo to enjoy the stuff there. Do go and give it a try, you shall surely love it.
