Video sharing site Brightcove to end Free Network Service
We had earlier mentioned about BrightCove in the post on 3 websites which outsmart Youtube, today, Brightcove has decided to shut down its Free Network Service.
On the company’s official blog, Adam Berrey, SVP of Marketing & Strategy said
We will be discontinuing the free Brightcove Network offer and its showcase website, Brightcove.TV, on December 17, 2008.
We have tremendous respect for the content and sites that our Network publishers have produced, so the decision to discontinue the Network was a difficult one. But we are providing an opportunity for Network publishers to easily and affordably migrate to Brightcove 3, the new version of our online video platform.
What this means is that all the videos uploaded by non-premium subscribers ( subscribers who are not the paid premium subscribers on December 17th 2008) will get deleted. If you have any videos embedded on your blogs/websites from such publishers, they too would cease to load.
