10 Best and Free Alteratives to Google Analytics

Though, Google Analytics is the best when it comes to Free Data Analytics for your website, there are other free alternatives too. Six Revisions has an interesting post which focusses on the lesser known, 10 excellent and free tools and applications to help you gather and analyze data about your web content.

The list includes interesting options like Piwik, Fire Stats, Snoop, Yahoo Web Analytics, BBClone, Woopra, JAWStats, 4Q, Grape Web Statistics, MochiBot.

Piwik and FireStats, are hosted on your server. That not only improves the accuracy of the results, but also makes sure you have a better control with your site’s data. However, this certainly would result in more server load for tracking data.

I personally use Google Analytics and Whos.Amung.Us for all my tracking needs on all my websites, however, there are certainly some very interesting features available on most of these services listed above which i believe make them a worth trying out service. One such feature which has impressed me is Snoop’s Name Tagging feature. This feature allows you to ”tag” visitors to your website for easier identification later. So what this means is that next time whenever someone from your Company or your department visits your website , you’ll instantly know.
