VuNow lets you watch your favorite Video Websites on your Television

Imagine being able to watch television for free using the various online options and also watch those videos on your regular Television without the need of a computer. Yes, this is possible with VuNow.

The VuNow PoD is a relatively small set-top-box that can stream audio and video from a variety of online sources, as well as your own home network devices, to your TV set. There are currently two versions of the VuNow Pod: the high-definition $149 VN1000HD Hi-Def PoD (which supports 480p and 720p via an HDMI connection) and the standard-definition $99 VN100SD Std-Def Pod (which supports 480i via an S-Video connection). Both devices support a number of popular video and audio codecs often used online, such as Flash, H.264, WMA, and MP3. The HD version includes the Premium Codec package, which also includes support for MPEG-2, Xvid, and DVD VOB. The standard-definition version can be upgraded to the Premium codec package for $29. Both devices also include a 100Mbps Ethernet port and two USB ports. One USB port can be populated with the optional ($14.99) 802.11g wireless adapter and the second USB port supports external hard drive or flash drive storage up to 500GB.

Verismo claims that it will be adding CinemaNow support to the devices soon—which is on top of the “Live Global Internet TV Channels” and Bit Torrent support that already exists with the Premium package.

It would be interesting to see how Verismo’s VuNow and other product do going forward. A few weeks back, Sling also announced release of iPhone App which will allow you to watch cable tv on your iPhone.

So with Vunow, you can browse and watch videos from Youtube and other video website, search and watch videos from thousands of online video sites, watch live, free-to-air channels from around the world, rent or purchase blockbuster movies from Hollywood and Bollywood, and share your personal collection of music, photos, videos stored on your PC with your friends and family, all on your TV. The most important part is, you dont need a Computer to do all this.

 

 

In my opinion, the day television sets go intelligent with support for USB ports, ethernet cable/wifi and various codecs, we might just not need devices like VuNow. However, there still seems sometime before all that happens and right now, VuNow is the gadget to lookout for if you are willing to watch your favorite online videos on your television set.

  2. Hi Vaibhav,

    Thats a nice review. I have a question though: If I buy paid subscription to say watchindia.tv, will I be able to watch that through vunow on my TV?

    I recently also came across this gadget: jodootv (jadootv.com). It streams internet channels on your TV — gives a good collection of indian channels. Have you had any experience with this?

    My main goal is to get indian channels on TV without paying the $55 a month fee of dish TV. watchindia list is not as good as jadootv’s, but watching the watchindia through vunow might seem more reliable than jadoo. For jadoo, I havent gotten too many feedbacks yet, so wondering whats your experience, if you have either heard about it or had any yourself.

Hello, I bought the jadootv, before buying i did a lot of research and asked friends what the best product is out there. i was getting mixed reviews because i dont like tying up my macbook to watch internet channels on tv it slows my computer down plus if i have to full screen something my workspace on mackbook is gone, NEITHER VUNOW OR JADOO TV WILL LET YOU PUT YOUR OWN CHANNELS IN IT! so if you have a willow.tv subscription or watchindia.tv subscribtion you cannot load it up into your jadoo and watch. however jadoo has its own selection of indian channels. they have zeee tv, including punjabi, gujrati, sony, hum, ary, geo, suntv, aljazeera and many more. plus you if you get the hd verison you can watch youtube or plug in your own harddrive into the back of it and watch your own hd content.

  5. Great review buddy, lots of important info…. thanks. My question is whether i would be able to see Indian Channels you mentioned on Vunow box or not. Their is a clear difference in price of Jadoo and Vunow.Please quide me, i am ready to buy

  7. The difference between jadoo and vunow is channels. Vunow does not have any ethnic channel but jadoo has many. I guess that explains the pricing

  8. Has any one used Jadoo Tv? Do you think it is worth it? How is the quality? I want to get it but would like to be sure that picture quality and the channel listing is good. Does anyone have the list of channels on jadoo tv.

  9. hi, i have bought the jadoo tv but it does not have Zee and sony i dont know if it suppose to have both channels are really well
    and it have StarOne tv but it dont work and there are really few channels on it for the price . I am not really satisfied
    it has
    Geo, Geo news, Geo Super, Masala Tv, B4U Music, B4u Movies, Ary Digital, Zoom, Ndtv, Aljazera, Some Arabic tv and couple of other sports channels

  10. jadoo you said it get;s geo, geo super, b4u and some Indian channels, i am actually interested in geo news, aaj and some main indian channels for my family, do the geo channels and maybe ARY really work ok on jadoo, i am going to be spending $200 on this so need to be sure, please confirm as some reviews on the internet say “nothing really works on jadoo” but you seem to be saying there are good channels and they work ok so please confirm- thanks!

  11. choclate>>> if u want to watch cricket on jadoo tv they have it they have this Indian channel called dmcl 24 hrs Hindi movies they have Quran channels also do not forget it requires high speed Internet if u want to watch it with out buffering

  13. I have a question regarding Jadoo. How much connection speed we talking on the internet to watch Jadoo without a buffering issue. Does it shows a full clear picture on a 60inch TV?? Most of these services has pixel issues on the big screen & the pic really don’t shows clear image on the big screen.

  15. sinc i have jadoo tv i had lots prblm with hindi channel but now its seems to me ok because jadoo tv has a my favrite hindi news channel aaj tak and sahara samay my thinking is now jadoo tv is best receiver because its without aaj tak and sahara samay i think garbage

    I was actually looking for the list of TV channels supported by both VUNOW and JADOO, so that I can do a first level comparsion
