Product Review site TestFreaks launches India Edition
TestFreaks, a product review aggregation service which aggregates reviews from sources like User reviews, professional reviews, prices, blog posts, forum threads, news, rumors, manufacturers descriptions and specifications, manuals, videos and more has launched its India specific website. Owing to the differences in geographic, cultural and business needs this move from a product review company certainly looks interesting.
The way TestFreaks works is pretty much fun to understand as well, TestFreaks pulls data for products from various sources like the ones listed above. Then it crunches all those reviews together into what it calls a “Freak Score,” which is basically the average rating for a product. When it comes to making money, TestFreaks aggregates prices from comparison shopping sites and gets a cut when users make purchases at those sites. TestFreaks currently gets 4 Million visitors to its site and is ranked 10,078 on Alexa.
Essentially, TestFreaks isn’t only about finding new products it can also be an owner’s community where you can share your experiences about your products and help others maximize the utility of the products. The website also has a forum where product owners and review seekers can ask, share their suggestion and answer to specific user queries.
Coming back to the India website of TestFreaks, its still work in progress and currently contains reviews for select products in categories like Cameras and Camcorders, Videos and Television, Home Audio and Phones. The parent website on the other hand has a wide catalogue of categories and products. Am sure, new products and categories shall soon be added to the India segment as well.
Below are the features, I would love to see on the India website of TestFreaks
1.) Addition of more products and product categories.
2.) Price Comparison doesn’t work for the India site as of now. Please get this running soon.
3.) Forum integration an essential part of community building is missing. Maybe, it would be great to have TestFreaks on Twitter or Facebook as well.
4.) When it comes to making the regular users come back to the site, i must admit TestFreaks needs to work hard, maybe an incentive model is what is required.
In short, TestFreaks, with the goal of creating world’s largest product review database is definitely a website to go to when it comes to reading reviews, doing price comparison and asking or answering questions on the community realted to the product. In case if you are from India and don’t find any review for your favorite product category listed yet, try heading out to the TestFreaks US website.
