Altec Lansing Orbit IM237 plays music from Portable Media Player and Mobile Phones
Recently a friend of mine gifted me Altec Lansing Orbit IM237, a portable speaker system which can can play music from a portable media player and mobile phones. The only operation control available on Altec Lansing Orbit IM237 is a power switch and a power indicator light. The power light also shows the battery life by turning red when you are running low.
I have been using the gadget primarily for listening to my iPod while on the road. Orbit IM 237 plays phenomenal sound which is crisp, clear and distortion free. Because of its design, Orbit IM237 emits sound in all directions. However, as its a single speaker system, don’t expect the bass and treble mix you get in a full fledged speaker system.

Altec Lansing Orbit IM 237 runs on 3 AAA Batteries and can play music for 24 hours at a stretch. As i mentioned above, the only control button is the power button, what this means is that if you wish to control the volume, you will have to do that using the device playing the music.
With the box pack of Orbit IM 237 you also get an adapter which can be used to connect the speaker system with a 2.5mm plug. When not listening to the music you can wrap around the cord and connector into the speaker system. The only thing that i quite didn’t like about Orbit IM237 is the short supplied cable which is just 6inches long.
Though i got it as a gift, which means it came for free, you might not be as lucky as me when it comes to the price you pay for the Altec Lansing Orbit IM 237 speaker system. In the US, the speaker system is available for a price of 34$, in India, you can get it for 2490 Indian Rupees.
In short, Orbit IM237 speaker system is a good companion with your portable CD players, MP3 players, music-enabled phones, laptops and other audio devices, including iPod and iPhone.
