Send Large Files From Microsoft Outlook using YouSendIt
Large file attachments are known to hog up your bandwidth and choke not only your outbox but also the receipient’s mailbox. Reasons like this are known for popularizing services like YouSendIt which allows you to send huge files without any fusses. The other way out is to only link and not attach files in Outlook.
The conventional way of using services like YouSendIt involves you to go to the site, enter information like Name, Email Address, File to Upload etc and the service sends an email to the recipient with a download link to the file. However, an easier way for Microsoft Outlook users is by using the YouSendIt Outlook Plugin. Using the YouSendIt Outlook Plugin, you can send large files directly from Outlook without worrying about the mail bounce notification or Microsoft Exchange server slowness.
Essentially, YouSendIt uploads and stores the files in a temporary storage location. Then, it mails the user the link of the file to be downloaded.
In order to download and install YouSendIt Microsoft Outlook Plugin, you need to be registered with YouSendIt.
How To Install YouSendIt Outlook Plugin?
1.) Download YouSendIt Outlook Plugin. (click here to download)
2.) Close Microsoft Outlook if it is running.
3.) Double click and install the YouSendIt Outlook Plugin.
4.) Click on the Run button and follow the installation instructions.
5.) By default the plug-in will be installed in “C:\Program Files\YouSendIt\Outlook Plugin”.
How To Use YouSendIt Outlook Plugin?
1.) Start Microsoft Outlook.
2.) Click on the YouSendIt toolbar button -> Configuration and select your uploading preference to decide when to use YouSendIt service for uploading the attachments.
3.) Attach a file with Microsoft Outlook and send it out. Based on your configuration in the previous step, Outlook may automatically send your email using the YouSendIt service or you may elect to confirm using the YouSendIt service.
The other service i would advice when it comes to sending large files is Drop.io.
