[Image Hosting] Host and Share your Images for Free with Pict.com
If you are looking out for a image hosting service which is free, head on straight to Pict.com . Pict.com is an early stage startup which is working on their product and various tools which help users upload and share images for free.
Various features of Pict.com includes one click hosting, sharing of images, firefox add-on to help you capture and upload screenshots directly from your browser.
The website currently supports uploads of JPG, GIF and PNG image file types. In order to get started, all you need to do is; point your browser to Pict.com . Once at the homepage, you have options to upload images. Single click on any empty box with the title, Upload Image and you will get a dialog to upload images from your computer or network drive. Upload is asynchronous and pretty quick. Once the image is uploaded, it will be shown in the box where you clicked in order to upload the image.
You can also share uploaded images. In order to share the image, move the mouse over the image and click “Share it” link. Pict.com provides different type of links for sharing your images. Using these links, you can share your images in different ways:
- Show to friends : This category of sharing images allows you to send your uploaded image to anyone using email, ICQ, AOL Instant Messenger, IRC etc.
- For boards. BBCode is available for posting images on boards and forums.
- For blogs. Pict.com provides HTML code for posting uploaded images on websites.
- Direct link. Allows you to access the image directly using a URL which can be entered in the browser window.
Currently Pict.com doesn’t offer registration and it uses cookies in order to identify your request and show you your uploaded images. However, as per Anthony, CEO of Pict.com , a user registration and image management module is on the way and should be released in another 7 days.
My feature Wishlist to Pict.com – I know i have a habit of asking for lots of features
1.) Ability to manage uploaded images ( am sure this is on the rollout list, sometime soon)
2.) Ability to search uploaded images.
3.) Tools to help me download all the uploaded images ( in case such a need ever arises)
4.) Tools to help me bulk upload my images rather than selecting and uploading images one-by-one.
Overall, i must say, Pict.com is definitely worth a try. Try it out if you haven’t.
