[Freeware] Download Entire Websites with HTTrack Website Copier
Have you ever wanted to Download Entire Websites or specific webpages to your hard drive? If yes, there are multiple ways to download webpages to your local hard disk. While some people prefer running recursive downloads using tools like wget, curl etc…for the ones who are not technically very savvy, HTTrack Website Copier is a good solution.
HTTrack is a free (GPL, libre/free software) and easy-to-use offline browser utility which allows you to download any Web site from the Internet to a local directory, building recursively all directories, getting HTML, images, and other files from the server to your computer. HTTrack arranges the original site’s relative link-structure. Simply open a page of the “mirrored” website in your browser, and you can browse the site from link to link, as if you were viewing it online. HTTrack can also update an existing mirrored site, and resume interrupted downloads. HTTrack is fully configurable, and has an integrated help system.
In order to understand HTTrack better, lets take up an example. Imagine you want to capture the site www.someweb.com/gallery/flowers/ . Now, HTTrack, by default, will capture all links encountered in www.someweb.com/gallery/flowers/ or in lower directories, example www.someweb.com/gallery/flowers/roses/ . You must understand that it will not follow links to other websites, because this behaviour might cause to capture the Web entirely!
It will not follow links located in higher directories, example, www.someweb.com/gallery/flowers/itself because this might cause to capture too much data.
How To Use HTTrack Website Copier to Download Websites?
1.) Download and Install HTTrack Website Copier from here.
2.) Launch HTTrack Website Copier.
3.) Give name to the project and specify project category.
4.) Enter the website address or url of pages you wish to download.
5.) Select Finish.

For what it’s worth if you’re a Mac user you can also get HTTrack from MacPorts by entering
port -v install httracktoo. Not quite as easy to use as the graphical Windows version but still does the job greatI was rationalizing on this subject last evening and I determined to search the WWW for some info. Your blog came up in my research and I’m impress what you have written on this subject. As I’m currently widening my search and thus cannot add further, however, I’ve bookmarked it and will be returning to further comment. Like I said, love this comment and will be back soon.
