[Chemistry] Get Your Periodic Table Basics Right!!!
If you have ever studied Chemistry either in School or college, you must be already aware of the importance of Periodic Table. For those of my readers, who never got a chance to study Chemistry either by design or by chance; Periodic Table arranges all the known elements in an informative array. In a Periodic table, Elements are arranged left to right and top to bottom in order of increasing atomic number. Order generally coincides with increasing atomic mass. e different rows of elements are called periods. The period number of an element signifies the highest energy level an electron in that element occupies (in the unexcited state). The number of electrons in a period increases as one traverses down the periodic table; therefore, as the energy level of the atom increases, the number of energy sub-levels per energy level increases.
Ptable.com is a cool periodic table with a detailed graphical representation for each element. Clicking on the element pulls you photos, videos and Wikipedia entries related to it. You can even highlight elements according to the temperature at which they boil, search for them, checkout their properties etc. You can even view orbitals and isotopes of elements.
With Ptable.com you can download the PDF of the Periodic Table, or download a PNG of the Periodic table. Ptable.com also has a forum for asking questions related to Chemistry.
