[Swine Flu] Spam Emails link to Data Stealing Trojan Qhost.NJI
Often it has been seen that any trending topic on the internet, is usually a very hot topic for spammers as well. Spammers always target the innocent people looking out for information for these topics and often such innocent people, unaware of the traps and tricks of scammers do fall to such tricks.
With the recent outbreak of Swine Flu, spammers and scammers are back in business. Their is an increase in the emails claiming to have information and cure medicines. This email has a link to the Qhost.NJI Trojan on a Web site that appears to be legitimate but has probably been hacked, said Nick Bilogorskiy, manager of antivirus research at SonicWall.
The Trojan, an executable file coded in Visual Basic, changes the host file on Windows computers so that if the computer is used to visit certain domains of Mexican banks the PC is redirected to itself without the user knowing it and the Trojan steals any log-in data that is typed, Bilogorskiy said.

Like this, there are several swine flu related spam and scam emails originating which finally intend to plant malware on your computer and grab the sensitive data. Brazil has been reported to be the origin for maximum swine-flu spam.
Be extra careful with the emails having subjects related to swine flu, these emails might prompt you to click on the links. Though, the website you land up at, after clicking on the link in the email, might look like a genuine website, it still can plant malware on your computer without your knowledge.
Remember, if you need credible information on swine flu, go directly to the World Health Organization’s website. And if you need medicines maybe a ride to the local doctor would be safer.
