[How-To] Calculate Body Mass Index With Wolfram Alpha
Wolfram Alpha the search engine from mathematician and author Stephen Wolfram is getting a lot of coverage these days for its capabilities. In my view Wolfram Alpha is not a Google killer, rather a product which complements Google’s search capabilities.
Wolfram Alpha doesn’t search through webpages based on the keywords, it rather relies on its “knowledge base”, which consists of a huge library, some created in-house, and some licensed. It includes Wikipedia, the US Census and a vast range of reference books, teamed with an Artificial Intelligence system.
In order to see if you are underweight, normal or overweight using Wolfram Alpha, follow the steps below
1.) Point your browser to Wolfram Alpha Body Mass Index Page

2.) The page will present you with input boxes for Weight and Height. Once you enter your details, press Enter. The resulting page will have the details related to your Body Mass Index.

When entering the details related to Weight and Height you can use any standard measuring standard (like lbs, kgs for weight ; inches, cms, ft for height)
With Wolfram Alpha you can do a lot of interesting things…do give it a shot and post your experience in comments.
