Windows 7 (Home Premium Update) Pre-Order starts this Friday for $50
Microsoft has announced the pricing for Windows 7. The new operating system by Microsoft will cost 8 percent less than the Vista. The general availability for Windows 7 is October 22. However, from Friday, you can pre-order Windows 7 from Best Buy,Amazon and Microsoft’s own website.
The pre-order release of Windows 7 would cost $49.99 in the United States,Canada and Japan from 26th Jun upto July 11th. The operating system would only be shipped after the general availability release.
In the US, three versions of Windows 7 will be widely available at retail, Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate. Pricing for the Upgrade versions of these products breaks down as follows:
Home Premium (Upgrade) – $119.99
Professional (Upgrade) – $199.99
Ultimate (Upgrade) – $219.99Full product pricing includes:
Home Premium (Full) – $199.99
Professional (Full) – $299.99
Ultimate (Full) – $319.99
Another interesting story is that Microsoft would be allowing consumers who purchase a Windows Vista based PC between June 26, 2009 and January 31,2009 to receive a free copy of Windows 7. This is offered as part of the Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program which begins today.
On October 22nd, Windows 7 will be available in the following 14 languages: English, Spanish, Japanese, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Chinese (Hong Kong).
Then on October 31st, the remaining 21 languages will become available: Turkish, Czech, Portuguese, Hungarian, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Greek, Ukrainian, Romanian, Arabic, Lithuanian, Bulgarian, Estonian, Slovenian, Hebrew, Thai, Croatian, Serbian Latin, and Latvian.
