About page of the website says
Musopen is an online music library of copyright free (public domain) music. We want to give the world access to music without the legal hassles so common today. There is a great deal of music that has expired copyrights, but almost no recordings of this music is in the public domain. We aim to record or obtain recordings that have no copyrights so that our visitors may listen, re-use, or in any way enjoy music. Put simply, our mission is to set music free.
While the aim of Musopen is to create a repository of music which is copyright free, the upload of music is actually community driven and Musopen does not review music uploaded by users of the site to determine if the music is in the public domain or subject to copyright. Its strongly adviced and encouraged that anyone who wishes to use music found on Musopen to familiarize themselves with copyright law and the public domain and to independently assess whether any given musical work or sound recording is in the public domain and not otherwise subject to third party rights.

One of the other interesting feature of Musopen is a bidding system. Using the bidding system, users of the website can pledge contributions toward specific pieces. When the amount is raised ( necessary amount),a professional musician is hired to perform. Most of the money used to fund the Beethoven Sonatas was also raised from users in small increments, with a $5 average contribution. While individuals can spend that same money purchasing their own copies of such works, a donation to Musopen helps fund a musical commons that makes the pieces available worldwide and for any application.
The sheet music on Musopen is embedded using Scribd. Personally, i have been using MusOpen to listen to some classics and till now i have been liking it. Give it a try and share your opinion in the comments below.
