[Microsoft] Q4 Revenue Down 17 Percent
Microsoft has confirmed that its fourth quarter revenues are down by 17 percent to $13.10 billion. The other key figures like Operating Income, Net Income and Diluted Earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter stood at $3.99 billion, $3.05 billion and $0.34 respectively.
Microsoft’s COO Kevin Turner said
While economic conditions presented challenges this year, we maintained our focus on delivering customer satisfaction and providing solutions to our customers to save money.I am very excited by the wave of product and services innovations being delivered in this next fiscal year.
Microsoft’s CFO Chris Liddell also expressed similar feelings.
“Our business continued to be negatively impacted by weakness in the global PC and server markets,” spun Liddell. “In light of that environment, it was an excellent achievement to deliver over $750 million of operational savings compared to the prior year quarter.”
While from a results perspective, the streets aren’t much excited but Microsoft did reach some significant product milestone in the quarter, these include release of Windows 7 RC, Windows Server 2008 RC and Bing ( the new search engine from Microsoft).

It must be noted that the total reported revenue for the fiscal ending June 30,2009 stood at $58.44 billion ( 3 percent YoY decline). Operating income, net income and diluted earnings per share for the year were $20.36 billion, $14.57 billion and $1.62 respectively.
