Sony PSP is the second most Popular Skype Platform after Computers

Skype, the VOIP application which allows you to talk with your friends,family and others is most widely used over the computers and then on Sony PSP as per a recent market survey done in Japan.

If the broadening of the Skype base continues to push it to platforms beyond just the desktop, then parent company eBay’s plans to IPO Skype as a separate firm next year could see quite the rush for shares.

Just an year after Skype hit the Sony PlayStation, it has already beaten the mobile phones and smartphones adoption rate by some margin.

Some key results from the Survey

1.) Around 24.4% of the survey participants have been using Skype for a period between 1-2 years.

2.) 70.4% of the participants use Skype for voice calling which includes SkypeIn and SkypeOut. Next important usage of Skype is for chatting.

3.) Computer and Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) are the two most famous platforms for Skype.

* 213 people participated in the survey.
