BillMonitor is a UK only website which allows you to enter details of your monthly cellphone usage costs (calls, texts (sms), data usage, frequency of roaming abroad, whether you want a new handset or not) and comes up with the best tariffs from their database.

BillMonitor is also the first UK mobile price comparison service to be accredited by Ofcom.( The Office of Communications (Welsh: Y Swyddfa Gyfathrebiadau) or, as it is more often known, Ofcom, is the independent regulator and competition authority for the communication industries in the United Kingdom.)

The site uses advanced statistics developed by BillMonitor’s team of mathematicians with scientific advisors from Oxford University to identify the best price plan for consumers based on their individual usage patterns. According to research from BillMonitor, 88% of users can save an average of 39% on their mobile phone bill.

BillMonitor’s service includes:

• Online bill tracking: Consumers supply their online billing account details and BillMonitor automatically analyses their online bills for a tailored and accurate recommendation based on analysis of their usage patterns

• One-off tariff search: Users can enter the number of minutes and texts they use per month, as well as overseas calls, picture messaging and data usage to locate the most appropriate tariff for consumers’ usage patterns

As i write this article, the site compares 11,491,814 cellphone contracts.

So in short, if you are in the UK and planning to take a new contract for your mobile phone, do check the BillMonitor service before you take the next step. There is no good thing like saving some extra money. ( Atleast, i wont mind having a few extra pounds in my pocket at the end of the month).

In India, i hope TRAI will take a note of this website and plan to get something on the similar lines. But, for now, kudos to BillMonitor and Ofcom for getting such an interesting and useful service up.
