Movie Rentals coming to Youtube?
As per the latest report by WallStreet Journal; Youtube is in talks with some big movie studios of Hollywood to make their new releases available through Youtube, for a rental fee.
While some content providers and studios already have full length movies available on Youtube for free ( [US Audience] Now Watch Shows and Movies on Youtube ) . However, those shows are old and less popular.
While details related to the business model and charges might vary from one studio to another, generally, the concept might revolve around taking a fixed fee from the consumer for streaming movie over Youtube. In some cases, the fee might get waved off owing to the presence of Ads in the movie.
Apple’s iTunes currently charges $3.99 for new movie rentals and therefore i don’t think that Youtube will charge anything more than $3.99.

Youtube is reported to be in talks with Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., Sony Corp., Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. and Time Warner Inc.’s Warner Bros. about charging for new titles on the existing YouTube site.
While the talks might still take some time, the plan of action is reportedly to get the service tested by around 10,000 Google engineers, before it reaches the average user.
Whats your opinion about this disruptive move by Youtube? Whatever it is, good or bad, speak up in comments, because any decision which Google takes, public opinion will have a key impact on the decision.
