[India] Airtel Brings HTC Hero To India
Bharti Airtel earlier in collaboration with HTC, brought HTC Magic as the first Android phone in India. It has now been announced that HTC Hero will also be made available in India by Bharti Airtel.
HTC Hero debuts HTC’s latest Sense UI, which allows users to customize the phone’s software. The device also comes with a 3.2 inch HVGA display with touchscreen capability, GPS, gravity-sensor, 3.5 mm stereo headset jack, 5 MP autofocus camera, expandable MicroSD memory,
HTC Hero comes with a special offer exclusively for 100 million Airtel users in India, wherein Airtel customers will get free data download of 100 MB per month for six months. Airtel customers will also be able to avail many utility-based applications such as Portfolio Manager, Hello Tune Manager, Weather Channel, Mobshare, In-mobile search and City Search on the HTC Hero.

HTC Hero will be available at a market operating price of Rs. 34,600/- ($710) in Maharashtra and Rs. 31,990/- ($652) in the Rest of India at all leading authorised HTC resellers across the country.

While the price is pretty much on the higher side, its interesting to see Airtel and HTC rolling out newer Android phones for India.
