7 Reasons Why I Want To Buy Alienware M17X
Alienware is a manufacturer of high-performance desktop, notebook, media and professional computing systems. Alienware has become a popular choice for those looking to get a handle on portable computer gaming systems, especially laptops. The company is now a fully owned subsidiary of Dell.
AlienWare M17x is the most powerful laptop ever made and sold on planet Earth. AlienWare M17x weights 5kgs and boasts of a 17 inch screen. Alienware M17X is the first model of Alienware launched in India.
At one of the trade show i got a handle on the Alienware M17X and this article is dedicate to my love for the machine.
Below are the 7 Reasons why i want to buy an Alienware M17X
1.) The machine has a very masculine look and runs the quad-core Mobile Core 2 Extreme QX9300 CPU which runs at 2.53 GHz with a L2 Cache of 12MB.
2.) When it comes to RAM, the system comes with 4GB of RAM which can be expanded upto 8GB.
3.) For a good Gaming machine, graphics is the key. Alienware M17x ’s graphics are powered by dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 260Ms in SLI mode with 1GB of RAM each. Now this is what you call power.
4.) Coming over to Hard drive part of the machine, you get 500 GB of Hard Disk space.
5.) Alienware M17x has a 17 inch screen with a 1,920×1,200 native resolution. In a flat panel display, the native resolution is very significant because, unlike a CRT, in which all resolutions are generally similar in quality, the highest resolution of a flat panel provides the best quality. The screen is not LED lit, which certainly is surprising.
6.) M17x doesn’t have any dearth of ports, the laptop comes with four USB 2.0 ports, four audio jacks for line in and headphones or surround sound output, VGA, HDMI and DisplayPort for video output and also a rare entity like Firewire port. I think this is seriously important if you wish to hook up the output to a good speaker and your HDTV.
7.) The keyboard is well laid out and has plenty of space and has a tapered key design which is particularly useful for gamer audience. Must say, M17x makes very good use of the keyboard space.
Believe me,If there was ever a laptop which puts lust in the mouth of gamers, Alienware M17x is it. While the laptop starts at $1799, you certainly would need a customization to get the most out of this gaming monster.
Unfortunately, Alienware M17x doesn’t come with accessories, which otherwise one takes for granted. So when you buy Alienware M17x, you don’t get a mouse, headset or a carry case. The other thing i kind of don’t like about AlienWare M17x is the operating system, the machine runs on Microsoft Vista Premium (64 bit). However, that can be solved with an upgrade to Windows 7, post 22nd October 2009.
I think am going to go ahead and buy Alienware M17x sometime (whenever i can afford it), what about you? Believe, me its no t a laptop, its a desktop which you can carry with you.
The other option in front of me is the Asus G71 GX, which comes with 12 GB RAM and 1TB Storage.
