[Vodafone App Start] Design & Build Your Mobile Widget And Win €1,000,000.
Vodafone, announced 360 services yesterday. The mobile carrier has now announced App Star Competition which carries a prize money of €1,000,000. The App Star competition aims to search for “the most innovative and useful mobile widgets” compatible with the new 360 platform and will offer up to €100,000 to two developers of the best mobile widgets.
The 1st phase of the competition runs until January 31st 2010, so you have until then to submit your entry. Three judges from each of the local Vodafone countries will judge the submitted entries and pick three winners. The three winners will receive (in reverse order), €10,000, €15,000 and €25,000. The App Star competition will therefore end up with 24 winners, which will be announced on February 12th 2010.
Phase 2 of the App Star Competition kicks in after that.
The winner of each country (eight in total) will then be opened up to public voting, where anyone can come along and vote for the widget of their choice. The widget with the second highest number of votes wins an additional €25,000, but the widget with most votes will then win ANOTHER €75,000.
The winner will be announced during March.
