Latest version of Facebook App for the BlackBerry is now available for download. Using the Facebook App for the BlackBerry, users can post status updates, share photos and much more.

In order to use the app, you need to have a data plan, a blackberry smartphone running on software version 4.2 or later, with 64 MB of memory and around 880 KB of available smartphone memory.

Facebook Mobile for BlackBerry (version 1.7) provides the following feature enhancements:

• News Feed Support – The ability to set the News Feed as the landing page.

• News Feed Filters – The ability to toggle between ‘News Feed, Status Updates, Photos & Links’.

• Caching Improvements – The application uses the device memory more efficiently.

• Feed Pre-fetching – The user will not be required to wait while their Facebook Feeds are updated.

• View Profile Menu Option – Clients may easily view their own profile by selecting ‘View my Profile’ from the menu. “

While its cool to checkout the features, its disgusting at the same time, as RIM doesn’t offer any alerts when the apps are updated. Though, users do get alerts for apps installed by App World, it seriously doesn’t make much sense for those who have installed apps outside the App World.

Facebook App v1.7 for Blackberry is available for download by navigating to blackberry.com/facebook or m.facebook.com. It is also available from Blackberry App World.
