[Freeware] Remove Copy Protection From DVDs With DVD43

I earlier wrote about AnyDVD which allows you to copy even those DVDs which are copy-protected in my post titled Copy copyprotected DVD’s with ANYDVD., while ANYDVD does the job pretty well, its not free. There is however, a free software for removing the copy protection from DVDs. This free software is called DVD43.

DVD43 will decrypt (unlock) a movie DVD so that your copy program can read it. If the DVD structure is non standard or the DVD contains bad sectors, your copy program needs to take care of that. 1Click DVD Copy, Nero Recode, Intervideo DVD Copy, Roxio DVD Copy, Pinnacle DVD Copy are some softwares which are compatible with DVD43.

In order to get started, you need to download and install DVD43. There are many download links available ( based on the mirror site) on DVD43 website. Run the setup file which installs DVD43 and leaves a happy face icon on your task bar. DVD43 will run in the background and decrypt DVDs inserted on the fly.Whenever you need to copy a copy-protected DVD (CSS protected DVD), insert it into the drive, wait for DVD43 to detect it (smiley face turns green). Start your DVD copy software ( you can use any software mentioned above), and you should be able to copy the “copy-protected” DVD without any issue.

DVD43 supports Vista 32 bit (including service Pack 1), Windows XP, Windows 2000. DVD43 doesn’t support Vista 64 bit.
