Print Web Pages to PDF With Firefox Add-on PrintPDF (Windows Only)

When trying to print webpages which have certain rich media associated, leaves a feeling of disappointment owing to the fact that the print is often a result of how the browser interpreted the layout and from there how the printer took it forward. In order to get better with the final print output, some people i have met, believe in taking printscreen snapshots and then printing those snapshots, and then, there are some who use tools like PrintWhatYouLike, which allows users to print what you like from a website instead of finding your printout full of ads, empty space and other junk that you don’t want. Read about it in my previous post [Green Computing] Print What You Like

The theme of this article is however to allow you to export the webpage as a PDF using a Firefox Add-on. The FF Add-on which can do such a thing easily is called PrintPDF. PrintPDF, allows you to save a webpage as a PDF, for printing and for offline viewing later.

In order to get started, install the FF Add-on from here. Once you have installed the add-on, you will be able to see an entry called “Print to PDF” under the File menu of the browser. When you click on this menu item, a dialog box called “Save Document as PDF” will be presented to you. At this point, like, saving any other file, specify the name and the folder location for the PDF. The default name of the file is the name of the webpage.

PrintPDF is certainly a great add-on which does the job well, however, PrintPDF doesn’t create hyperlinks in the PDF file and i hope this feature is added to the add-on soon.
