Seen a Font in use and Want to Know what it is?
It often happen with me, i see an interesting banner or a logo or an image and want to know the font used in that particular banner or logo or image. If this happens with you too, you can head over straight to WhatTheFont.
With WhatTheFont, you can submit an image to the application and the app will do some cool image parsing at its end to let you know the font used in the application.
In order to get started, you do not need to create a sign-up or provide email address. Simply, navigate your browser to WhatTheFont. Next, you must upload the image to the system. The image you upload will then be parsed by the system and you will be shown a page where you will be required to look at each “parsed” image and make sure the text box with some pre-filled value agrees with the character highlighted in the image. This step is basically to validate the font before the result is prepared by the system.

Please keep the following in mind for better font identification.
1.) The number of characters in your scanned image makes a significant difference in the accuracy of the search results.
2.) If you are identifying a font that is very similar to others, use as many characters as possible or a total of 23 andl use characters that are unique to this font. If possible, space the characters apart more than normal.
3.) Best format for the images are Tiff, Grayscale at 300 dpi.
