Google Launches Google Commerce Search for Online Retail Enterprises
Google has launched Google Commerce Search which is a search solution targetted at the Online Retail Enterprise segment. Google Commerce Search will be a hosted solution and can certainly help retail enterprises gear up for the seasonal spikes which they see because of the holiday season which in turn leads to higher queries and searches for the products customers wish to buy or gift.
Google Commerce Search is hosted in the cloud, meaning it lives online, so e-commerce sites can get up and running quickly. Using a cloud search tool will also help site owners meet the rise in demand from the holiday rush without having to devote extra time or resources to worrying about their capacity or infrastructure. Online retailers are free to focus on their business, while Google focuses on search, and shoppers can find what they need faster.
Once you’ve signed up for Google Commerce Search, your site administrator will follow these simple steps in order to get started.
Step 1: Submit your product data to the Google Merchant Center and Google Product Search. Visit www.google.com/merchants to upload your items via data feeds, direct uploads, or use our API.
Step 2: Customize the look and feel of your on-site search engine. Log into the administrative console to manage product promotions, upload synonym dictionaries, and control parametric search options.
Step 3: Analyze your site’s traffic and search effectiveness. View custom reports on top queries, special feature usage and more.

In my view, Google Commerce Search certainly looks like an effective offering for the retail customers. If the website can cater to search spikes and still deliver search results quickly, it can definitely lead to higher customer confidence and increase customer conversions.
