If you are ever in the need to delete all the data from your laptop or computer forever, Darik’s Boot and Nuke (“DBAN”) is a free utility you can bet your money on. DBAN is capable of completely deleting the contents of any hard disk that it can detect, which makes it an appropriate utility for bulk or emergency data destruction.

Using DBAN is simple, you simply need to create a CD with the program, switch on/ restart / reboot  the laptop or computer you wish to delete data from ( essentially boot the computer using the DVD / USB / CD)- and then wait quite a few hours ( depends on the size of the disc) while it wipes your machine’s hard drive. Using DBAN on the computer will make it almost like a fresh machine.
