New Gmail Labs Feature “Mark Unread from Here”
Gmail has released a new labs feature called “Mark Unread from here”. This labs feature is very useful if you have email threads which run into many replies back and forth. For such emails, if you mark the email as “Unread”, it will return to its previously read state without updating to show what you just read.
When you enable Mark Unread From Here from the Labs tab under Settings, you’ll see a new “Mark unread from here” option in the drop down menu found in the upper right-hand corner of messages.
Clicking this option on a message tells Gmail that you want that message to be the first one you see when you reopen the thread later, with all messages after it open for easy reading.
Gmail earlier added the feature to mark all previous messages as unread, but it used to keep the current message as unread too. With the latest lab feature, you can tell Gmail from where it should mark the messages as unread.
In my opinion, this labs feature is a small but useful add-on. Welcome this change.
