Stream Video Files while they are still Downloading with uTorrent 2.1

With the uTorrent 2.1 alpha release, the BitTorrent client has added a new feature called video streaming which basically allows users to start watching the videos even while they are still getting downloaded. This feature is cetainly very useful in the Youtube age, when people have got used to watching videos of the internet video sharing websites while they are still getting completely buffered.

With the current uTorrent stable implementation, end users have to wait for long hours (depending on the size of the video file) before they can actually start viewing the files. uTorrent 2.1 client ( which is in alpha release right now) can even be configured to play the stream using your favorite VLC media player or Windows Media player. By default, the client is configured to use the DivX web player to stream video. The setting related to which media player to use, can be found in Preferences section of the utility.

uTorrent’s parent company BitTorrent Inc. is also working on BitTorrent-powered live streams. BitTorrent inventor Bram Cohen himself aims to develop a piece of code that is superior to all the other P2P-based streaming solutions on the market today. In my opinion, this can certainly be game-changing as till date, nobody has proven that P2P technology will work in real-time requirements for live video.
