[Freeware] Visualize Your Hard Disk Space Usage with Disktective

It has happened with me and am sure it must have hit you as well. You get yourself a hard disk ( mine is 320 GB ) and keep surfing as you do, downloading Podcasts, songs etc from iTunes , softwares for analysis etc and one fine day, you get a low disk warning ( which you can disable). Next, thing one usually ( not me), does is, heading over “My Computer” and checking out the free disk space. While you always have an option of checking the size of various folders, it really doesnt help, when you have huge amount of data lying in various folders. In such situations, the Hard Disk Space visualization software like Disktective come to rescue. On the same topic, i wrote about JDiskReport and Xinorbis earlier.

Hard Disk space visualization softwares help you graphically interpret which folders and files on the hard disk are hogging up space. Disktective is a freeware utility which scans any disk drive or folder and lists the folder and file sizes contained. It also shows a pie chart which displays the space usage of the disk or the folder for which the scan was run. Once the scan is through, you can drill down to any sub-folder and the pie chart automatically updates accroding to the space usage.

Disktective is a freeware as well as portable software. In order to get started, download the exe and copy the program files onto your harddisk or USB drive, double click on the .exe file and Disktective will start.
