Backup your Online Data with Backupify (Signup for FREE till 31st Jan 2010)

If you think, you do not have any data on the cloud ( i.e. online)  to backup, you might just want to think again.

The emails you have on your Gmail account, your Twitter account tweets, Facebook profile, photos stored on Flickr, Photobucket, documents on your Google Docs,Zoho etc, are all stored “online” i.e. on the cloud and you “MUST” take a backup of them whenever you can, for you never know when these free or paid services accidentally delete your data or your account altogether or you fall to a innocent looking phishing attack and lose your account forever. Its important to understant that your online data is just as important as the data on your computer. Both should be backed up.

Backupify is service which backs up all your online account from 10 online service. The service takes the backup usually for a fee, however, until January 31, 2010, all accounts created on Backupify will be free with “unlimited storage”. After Jan 31st 2010, users will have to pay to create an account with Backupify. For those who sign up for an account during this free period, the service will remain free with unlimited storage, forever.

Online services currently supported by Backupify are

* Gmail
* Twitter
* Facebook
* Flickr
* Photobucket
* Google Docs
* Zoho
* Basecamp
* Wordpress
* Blogger
* Hotmail
* Delicious
* FriendFeed

Backupify has plans to soon also offer backup service for Youtube and LinkedIn. An interesting feature worth mentioning is that Backupify allows you to export your entire Twitter account (status updates, mentions, direct messages, and more) to a PDF. Pretty useful if you wish to go back and have a look at your old twitter data.

Backupify makes use of Amazon S3 to save the data online and also claims that it keeps your userid and password information secure from hackers. Once you have signed up, you simply configure the services you wish to take backup of ( by providing userid and password) and Backupify will automatically take backups for the services on a recurring basis.

In my opinion, you wont get a better deal, just go and signup for Backupify.
