I was recently looking out for a compact camera as part of my Holiday shopping and landed up doing research ( and finally buying) about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX1, a feature rich and performance packed, point and shoot camera.

For my gifting need, i was looking out for a camera which is compact, weighs less and can perform well even in low light. As i was buying a point-and-shoot camera , my ask from the camera was of 6-12 Megapixel, 4X – 6X zoom and a 720p video recording for those moments when you quickly wanted to grab that moment. Starting with these requirement, i started my research for that perfect camera and ended up buying Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX1. In this article, i will walk you through my research and why i chose DSC-WX1.

1.) Sony Cybershot DSC-WX1 weighs just 148 gms and that too with battery, so surely this was light-weight camera which you can easily carry in your pocket.

2.) DSC-WX1 is a 10.2 Mega-pixel camera with 5X optical zoom and offers a focal length of 24mm at the widest angle, thereby allowing you to shoot a person from head-to-toe with a distance of just 3 feet. The camera also offers Exmor R” sensor.

3.) Sony Cybershot DSC-WX1 also comes with a image stabilization feature. Image Stabilization mechanism reduces blurring associated with the motion of a camera or its subject.

4.) As with other camera’s even Sony DSC-WX1 features the smile shutter feature which allows the camera to automatically shoot whenever the subject is smiling. Smile shutter option can be set to slight, normal or big depending on the need.

5.) Sony DSC-WX1 offers easy, auto and program mode. While Auto is the fully automatic mode, program mode is for those users who are well versed with parameters like ISO settings, focus, metering and bracketing.

6.) You also get Anti-blur and twilight mode which ensures that you can shoot pictures even in low light. When these modes are enabled, the camera takes 6 photos in high speed ISO and then stitches the images together using an in-built algorithm to give the end user the best shot.

7.) Sony DSC-WX1 can also capture 720p videos at 30 frames-per-second.

8.) You can preview the images using the 2.7 inch display.

9.) Images and videos can also be outputted directly to the TV using the cables provided.DSC-WX1 also offers a slideshow and background music option for previewing images.

10.) Alongwith the camera, you get a data transfer and AV out cable and also a 4GB memory stick.
