Regularly changing your wallpaper or haivng a cool wallpaper for your Windows desktop is one past-time which a lot of us enjoy. In this article, i will list down the 3 websites to help you download free wallpapers for your computer as per a recent survey.

Personally, apart from the websites mentioned below, i use a nifty freeware tool called John’s Background Switcher for changing my PC’s wallpaper automatically. I, also, download several stunning natural images from National Geographic’s website for using it as a wallpaper. If you have a multi-monitor setup ( like me), you might even want to use some tool like Display-Fusion which essentially provides a multi-monitor taskbar and a wallpaper utility for managing wallpapers on dual-monitor setup.

1.) Interfacelift

Interfacelift has a huge collection of wallpaper images ( as i write this article, wallpapers which can be downloaded for your desktop stand at 2041). The website comes with a clean layout and you can filter the search results by pressing appropriate button style menus available at the top of the screen.

Interfacelift allows you to filter your wallpaper search based on resolution too. You can search for wallpapers based on resolutions presets for Widescreen, Fullscreen, Dual Monitor, HDTV, Triple Monitors, Mobile and wallpapers at 1080p and 720p etc.

The search results gives you information about the image alongwith a drop-down menu for selecting size and quickly downloading the image.

Interfacelift also has a feature called “The Loupe” wherein new submissions are examined under the Loupe and voted on by the InterfaceLIFT community.The very best wallpaper images, chosen by vote, get posted for download on the front page of the site.

Apart from Wallpapers, Interfacelift also has a good collection of Themes for Mac OS X 10.4, Windows XP and Sony PS3. You can also download icons for Mac OS X 10.4 and Windows XP using Interfacelift.

2.) DeviantART Wallpaper

DeviantArt is one of the largest art community in the world and its wallpaper subdivision, possesses good collection of wallpaper archives. You can find wallpapers from common glow-lines variety of abstract wallpapers to quirk paintings and computer rendered images.

Unlike Interfacelift, DeviantART doesn’t have the advanced wallpaper-oriented search features, however, you can still search by image size and sort by popularity.

3.) 4Chan Wallpapers board

4Chan is primarily an image-based forum where one can anonymously post and share images with other users. It has various boards and the /Wallpaper/ board is updated very frequently with images from around the web.

Be strongly forewarned, however: although the /Wallpaper/ forum is much tamer than other areas of 4Chan, you’ll still find a large number of Maxim-level NSFW wallpaper images and the occasional Playboy-level NSFW images when you’re browsing. If you’re not prepared to explain some really awkward internet memes to your boss, you’d better save 4Chan /Wallpaper/ for home.

So now you can go ahead and start downloading wallpapers for your computer for free from the above mentioned websites. Personally, i also use Flickr and National Geographic apart from the above mentioned list.
