Movil Mobile MT1 Launched in India (Have you seen their Website?)

Bling Telecom’s new brand Movil has launched their mobile MT1 as part of the first handset range in the Indian Market. In this article, i will discuss MT1 and will also review the website of Movil Mobile.

Recently, Intex also released its dual sim phone which is priced for just Rs 4500. Read about it in my previous article titled Intex IN 6611 ACE Is a Dual-SIM Mobile Phone (for just Rs 4500)

Key Features of  Movil Mobile’s MT1 handset

1.) Movil Mobile’s MT1 is available in India for a price of Rs. 5500.

2.) MT1 is a dual SIM phone which supports two GSM connections.

3.) When it comes to dispay, MT1 comes with a 3 inch touchscreen which supports 262,144 colors.

4.) Movil MT1 comes with a 3MP camera with no flash support. MT1 also features some basic image editing functionality which allows for cropping images, adding text to the image, funny frames which have been available in other phones too and blurring a portion of the image.

5.) The phone weighs 98 gms and its size specifications are 102 x 51 x 13.6 mm.

6.) When it comes to memory, the phone comes with an internal 87 MB memory and a microSD card slot which can support upto 8GB external memory.

7.) With regards to connectivity, Movil Mobile MT1 supports Bluetooth and GPRS.

8.) MT1’s battery is a Li-ion 1000 mAh battery which offers talk time of upto 7 hours and a standby of upto 120 hours.

9.) Movil Mobile MT1 also comes with a music player, FM Radio andsome motion sensing games.

While the phone’s specs are interesting and you can get a dual-sim phone for just Rs 5500, what really left me in a shock ( literally) is their poor website design.

Below are the screenshots of Movil Mobile’s website.( Which can even be used as learning lessons for all those who are planning to launch a website)

1.) When you do a google search for Movil Mobile, the first result ( as expected) is of Movil’s official website. However, checkout that their is no title tag and Google has indexed it as “Untitled Document”.Is this what you call “Usability”.

2.) Upon clicking the link, when you go to the website of Movil Mobile, you get a feel that the website has been designed by someone who is either still learning HTML and CSS or they have tried to re-use one of the several freely available HTML themes.

3.) There is a section which says “Download Models”. Firstly, i feel this heading itself doesn’t make intuitive sense. The section has drop-downs for Phone Suites, User Guide and Drivers. When you click on one of the drop-downs, all you see is garbage. Text, which should have been used for initial testing and nothing useful. Is this a production website or did they forget to modify their DNS records to point to the correct server?

4.) The webpage has various links like “Distribution”, “Key Retail Operation”, “Service”, “Logistic” , “Press Release” , “Employee”, “Careers” which do not point to any valid link. Similarly with the links for “Terms and Conditions”, “Mobile Version” and “Privacy Policy”.

Key lessons to be learnt from Movil Mobile’s Website (which is more of a prototype rather than the official website) as of today

1.) Before you launch or release a product, either have a good website ( functionally) or just take it offline. It doesnt make any sense to have a useless website which doesnt solve any purpose.

2.) Ensure that you have proper messaging, working links and a look and feel which can match your competition. ( especially when you are releasing a gadget). Remove all those links which do not add “value”.

3.) Have proper Title tags in your webpages, so that the browser ( and also the bots) do not show the page as “Untitled Document”.

  1. Is the Movil ME-1 Mobile trusted as I am getting TV advertisements to promote the product??China Dual Sim are disabled since Jan. 2010, one sim invalid!! Likewise this model may do so in future. Save the customers from any product fraud.

If the make is jenuine or just media propaganda.
