Android 2.1 SDK Released
Android 2.1’s SDK has officially been released. If you are wondering as to why it is an important news, well, Google Nexus One, which was released on January 5th is also a Android 2.1 powered phone.
With the official release of Android 2.1, it appears that we might soon have more handsets powered by Android 2.1.
For developers, the Android 2.1 platform is available as a downloadable component for the Android SDK. The downloadable platform includes a fully compliant Android library and system image, as well as a set of emulator skins, sample applications, and more. The downloadable platform includes no external libraries.
1.) Android 2.1 SDK has added support for animated wallpaper development.
2.) View selectors for apps.
3.) Changes have been done to the signal strength visual output.
4.) WebKit rendering engine has been updated to allow for geo-location support.
5.) Latest SDK also has settings for app cache, web storage, zooming based on screen density and methods for handling video, browsing history and custom views.
