Apple iPad Release Fails to Impress the Masses
Apple iPad which was released today at the press conference in the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco) doesn’t seem to have impressed the masses.
In this article, let me walk you through some of the early reactions of the masses and what is “not hot” about the Apple iPad.
Also included in this article is the official demo video of the Apple iPad ( Apple’s Tablet PC).

At a poll initiated by Lifehacker, around 44% of the total voters said “It’s useless, and I couldn’t be less interested”, while 38% of the voters would prefer to wait and watch further.

1.) Apple iPad does not support Flash (period). During the demo done by Steve jobs, there were moments when he surfed through the website and the page showed a missing plugin error.
2.) No Multitasking is ugly. Steve Jobs mentioned that Apple iPad will replace Netbooks, but, how come he missed out on adding “Multitasking” capabilities to the iPad. Who will buy the iPad (read: netbook replacement) if they cannot do multitasking on the device.
3.) Why is there no HDMI output slot in Apple iPad? Well, maybe because that will kill Apple TV. Apple iPad could have become a superb product had Apple included a HDMI output. For now, watch all those HD videos you downloaded from Youtube, on your 9.7 inch screen itself. No connecting the iPad to your TV.
4.) The apps have to come from App Store. Well, this is another major deal-breaker. When it comes to netbook replacement or tablet PCs, Apple should have been more open. Apple App Store is already infamous for banning and rejecting apps and not giving a real-genuine reason.
5.) Apple iPad doesn’t feature a Camera. Well, for the size of the device, Apple should have given the device a camera. I guess they will release a camera only in the next generation iPad. ( come on guys, they too need to release new versions, what will they add there if they give you all the features now).
Below is a official video of the Apple iPad.

Very nice compilation Vaibhav. While the iPad does have some cool stuff, i do not like the keypad part.
I don’t like the fact that existing apps will get pixelated. Apple should have ensured the existing apps somehow work on the iPad. I don’t like the pixelation idea.
Any idea about when will the Apple iPad be available for the masses? Will it be available only in the US initially or in other countries too?
for me the iPad is nothing more than a digital photo frame + e-book reader + gaming device. If you talk about iPad as a tablet PC, where is the USB? Where is Handwriting recognition etc? This is not a tablet PC..it a tablet iPod Touch.
Very true Vaibhav, i like the above summary. What i am most disheartened with is the Big, Ugly Bezel.
I for one think it is a good idea. BUT….. this it is not for everyone (and this is a problem). I will buy one because I am looking for an affordable and sleek computer to have at the house that I can search the web on and play some games or go on facebook with. In order to get a pc version of this I would have to spend well over $1000 and the unit is going to weight over 5 pounds, get hot and the battery will only last 3 hours at best.
Is the ipad going to replace the pc? No! But that’s not what it is designed to do. It is designed to be a link between the iPhone and the fully functional computer. I have an iPhone and a pc laptop and I pull out my iPhone everytime before I bother with the laptop, to search the Internet and do my mobile banking and social networking. Why? Because it just works better. I would love to have a larger version of my iPhone.
I do believe they need to be able to sync your iPhone to it and allow cameras to transfer pictures in.
There is a camera adaptor on one sight that your will be able to add a camera for stills and video. For additional cost no doubt.
Is the ipad perfect? No. But it is the 1st generation and I can only imGine where it’s going to go. I can’t wait.
