Nokia sold 126.9 Million Phones in Q4 2009

Nokia, today announced the results for 4th Quarter of 2009. What is really significant is the market share which Nokia has been able to grab.

During just the fourth quarter of 2009, Nokia sold 126.9 million phones i.e. close to 17% more than Q3 2009. This increase has raised the market share of Nokia in the mobile phone market to 39% from previous 37.3% in Q3 2009.

Key points related to the results are as mentioned below

1.) Nokia has reported net sales of €12 billion for Q4 2009. This is 5% down on a year on year basis.

2.) Nokia’s operating profit for Q4 2009 was  €1.14 billion. This is up 130% year on year basis.

3.) Nokia shipped 20.8 million smartphones in Q4 2009.

4.) On a complete 2009 basis, Nokia sold 431.8 million devices which is 7.8& less as compared to the  468.4 million mobile devices sold by Nokia in 2008.

5.) Nokia has also mentioned that it is recording upto 1 million downloads per day from the Nokia Ovi Store. Nokia Ovi mail accounts as of now stands at 5 Million.Nokia Messaging deals signed with more than 69 operators.

The results announced by Nokia are significantly better as compared to the market expectations. Nokia’s share price is up by 10% since yesterday.
