Apple announced iPad on 27th January at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. From the initial response, though people do not look too impressed with what the iPad offers, there are certainly good reasons as to why the Apple iPad might just kill the Amazon Kindle.

In this article, i will present my views about why a iPad is a better buy than the Amazon Kindle. Basically, i am going to write about 5 reasons as to why an Apple iPad can put Amazon Kindle ( as it is today) out of business.

1.) While the Amazon Kindle is just an e-book reader, the iPad in my opinion is an e-book reader + iPod Touch + Digital Photo Frame + Gaming device ( with HD screen), i.e. Apple iPad is a device with multiple capabilities. Also, did i tell you, you can watch movies too on the Apple iPad?

2.) While the Amazon Kindle support e-books in the proprietary Kindle format, the Apple iPad supports ePub format natively. While the Amazon Kindle currently doesn’t support ePub, it might soon start supporting ePub. Also, thanks to Kindle for iPhone, you can read all the Kindle Books on your iPad right from day 1.

3.) Apple iPad has a full-color screen which supports multi-touch. Kindle is way behind. While you can easily swipe through in an iPad, On the Amazon Kindle, you need to click a button. It must be noted that there is no difference in the screen size of the Kindle DX and the iPad.

4.) While the Kindle has announced its SDK and developers will get 70% cut for the apps sold, the fact of the matter is, Apple App Store is much richer in terms of number of apps and experience.

5.) The price of Apple iPad (lowest edition) is just $10 more than the Amazon Kindle DX. (Kindle DX is now shipping International for $489)

Frankly speaking, though, am not very impressed with the Apple iPad, it certainly kicks Kindle’s butt any day.What do you think? Do share your opinion in the comment.
