[India] Telecom Subscriber count as of December 2009 was 562.21 Million
TRAI has released the report on the subscriber count of telecom consumers in India, and, ladies and gentlemen, the number stands at 562.21 Million.
As per the November 2009 report, Telecom subscriber count in India was 543.20 Million. (Read: [India] Telecom Subscriber count stands at 543.20 Million (Nov 09 report) ). This means, in December 09, India added 19.01 million Telecom subscribers as compared to November 09.
Owing to such stunning numbers, TRAI is even considering unlocking (2-7 series for mobile phone numbers)
Key highlights of the report are
- Total Telephone subscriber base as of 31st December 2009 reaches 562.21 Million
- Wireless subscription reaches 525.15 Million.
- Wireline subscription at 37.06 Million.
- 19.10 Million new additions in wireless.
- Wireline subscription declines by 0.09 Million.
- Overall Tele-density reaches 47.89.
- Broadband subscription is 7.83 million.
