3 Alternatives for FREE Ning Customers

Ning’s closing down its free social network creation feature very soon and will also be forcing all the “FREE” social networks to either find another host or become a paid customer for Ning. Therefore, if you are a social network owner on Ning running a FREE social network, its time you either start looking at your wallet or invest your free time in figuring out your next host.

In this article, i will introduce you to three alternatives which you can choose to move to, when Ning finally shuts its doors on you.

1.) Spruz

I mentioned Spruz as an alternative to Ning in my earlier post about Ning closing down free social networks. Spruz has also started reaching out to Ning users. It appears Spruz has been spending their time and money to ensure that their free service remains in business forever.

2.) Grou.ps

GROU.PS is a do-it-yourself social networking platform that allows people to come together and form interactive communities around a shared interest or affiliation. You can create your own social network on Grou.ps for free.

3.) BuddyPress

I love wordpress and if i am one who is taking a hit because of Ning’s decision, i would prefer moving to my own setup powered by BuddyPress. The only downside is this is a do-it-yourself solution and therefore you will only have to take care of everything, from setting up the solution to maintaining the service.
