Instant upload is the feature which was recently showed in a commercial during the Grammy awards telecast. The Google Plus commercial showed the life of a new dad, who clicks a lot of pics of his new born child, but loses the phone in a taxi one day.
While Instant Upload will be able to upload pictures from your Camera Roll to Google’s cloud storage servers – it will only work while the app is active (unlike iCloud, which works automatically at a set time and backs up your data automatically).
Instant Upload is only active while the Google+ iOS app is open, and for a brief period after you close it. Re-opening the Google+ app resumes your photo & video uploads exactly where they left off.
This update to the iOS app also brings with it the “What’s Hot” stream to the app and also adds functionality which allows a user to see who +1′d their post in the stream. Also with this update, users can now shake the device while the Google Plus app is open to send feedback.
